Gantry Moving 4 Axis CNC Router
OMNI designed gantry moving and table moving 4 axis CNC router for medium and large 3d mould processing of EPS, automobile, ship, yacht and large musical instrument.
4 Axis CNC router can do the curved surface carving, and it can carry out all-round carving for curved plates and all-round plates. Regardless of whether the bent plate is a 180-degree or 90-degree guard, it can be carved naturally, and the carving effect of each angle will not be deformed.
Table Moving 4 Axis CNC Router
Table moving 4 Axis CNC router is the perfect solution for woodworking manufacturers, like a chair back. This design allows the double CNC router tables for continuous production and full cutting time.
Owning this function, the CNC router table can be loaded and off-loaded without interrupting the machine working and production that is occurring on the other table.
Its heavy duty cast iron frame tends to naturally absorb or dampen any cutting vibrations. OMNI has offered this machine to a furniture manufacturer, and this company uses it to cut chair back.

FAQs
What Is 4 Axis CNC Router?
A 4 axis CNC router is a CNC router with 4 axes.
But the most commonly used CNC router is the one with 3 axes – which move left-to-right (X-axis), front-to-back (Y-axis) and up & down (Z-axis). This 3-axis CNC router derives its design from the conventional rotary filing process. It is designed to work on flat materials, where the material remains lodged in place and the spindles on the CNC machine move in three directions. This 3-axis CNC is ideal for simple machining tasks such as drilling holes, milling slots and cutting edges.
But in the 4 axis CNC router, you have an additional fourth axis spindle function called the A-axis, which rotates the router’s spindle a full 180-degrees on the X-axis to cut along the curves, edges and arcs. The cuts can be made along the C-axis (180-degrees rotation around the Y-axis).
Here, the fourth axis is a flat table with an indexer, which indexes or moves the material to different degrees and directions, based on what you program or manually position. This doesn’t necessarily mean rotation alone but can include different angles, as needed. The indexer is put into position before machining begins and then you start working on your material.
This 4-axis CNC machine is particularly beneficial when holes need to be drilled, cuts need to be made and slots need to be milled on the sides of the material which are the most curved and most-susceptible to poor quality and damage. The presence of the fourth spindle gives the CNC machine the flexibility to flip the material over onto its side or back, allowing the excess material to be taken off as needed.
4 Axis CNC Router Fixture Ideas
There are two ways of fixing your 4 axis CNC router:
- Moving gantry – If you choose a moving gantry, you will have a lot more space to work with because of the absence of a second table (as in a fixed gantry). Plus, this fixture is better for larger cutting/milling projects where you want to do all-round carving without affecting the carving angle.
- Moving table – Although it takes up more space, this fixture is stronger and better for longer hours of machining. At Omni CNC, our double moving table 4th axis CNC routers allow you to off-load and re-load the table as needed, without disturbing the other table midst operation.
What Products This Router For?
Curved & arched objects. Such as:
- Intricately carved furniture (like chair backs, sides of the bed, kitchen islands, headboard, etc.)
- Wooden cabinetry (especially good if they have curved handles).
- Engraved staircases and staircase posts.
- Carved decorative objects, such as toys, sporting equipment, vases or sculptures.
- Wooden bases/backs of musical instruments.
- Elements of vehicles (such as sides of a ship or corners of a bus).
Any product that requires detailing and needs the edges to be precisely shaped can benefit from a 4 axis CNC router.
